  • What Does Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mean at Elastic Path? - At Elastic Path, we know that there we are better when we are surrounded by a diverse group. This includes diversity across gender, race, experience, geography, politics, background, skill set, opinion…and the list goes on. We are an organization that seeks out opportunities to learn and grow as individuals, as part of the teams we work with, and the communities in which we live. We ask ourselves difficult questions and hold each other accountable to keep trying, pushing further and considering why. Recently, we refreshed our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) vision and mission and started the work of defining changes within our people & culture practices, our commitment to learning and how we’ll build out a rubric for all areas of our business to consider as they plan for hiring, customer engagement, and public engagement on the go forward. Our DE&I Vision: . Everyone feels comfortable being their whole self at Elastic Path. Our DE&I Mission: To create a sense of universal belonging through: Fair and equitable people practices designed to welcome diverse talent Equal access to opportunities of growth and development Inclusive language both internally and externally Business decisions rooted in equitable practices DE&I learning journey supported by external partners Adherence to our Community Charter* A psychologically safe workplace Additionally, we’re committed to continuing to educate ourselves and our team, beginning with unconscious bias. No matter how much we might not want to admit it, unconscious biases influence most of our decisions. Our biases are ingrained and in order to really dig into the work of DE&I, we want all of our people to start from a place of looking inward. In a recent facilitated session with Janelle Aaker, an experienced Diversity and Inclusion Consultant, our people noted how valuable it was to take time to think about their own experiences and the impact it has on the lens in which they see the world through, on an unconscious level. And the that's just the start, now that our people are more aware, we can all be more proactive with noticing, and calling out, our biases. We’re doing our best today and acknowledge there’s still work to do to truly live into the vision. This is a journey, and we will continue to roll out new programming, hold ourselves accountable, educate ourselves, and partner with our people - who have brilliant minds, kind hearts and will help us go further than I could have imagined.
